For the first time in series history, Grand Theft Auto VI features a playable female protagonist. Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval are a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde: two people bound by an impossible loyalty, building a life in the state of Leonida while the walls close in. Trailer 2 opens on Jason in the Keys and builds to the pair's partnership, and it is clear their relationship — not just the heists — is the spine of the story.
Jason Duval grew up around grifters and car thieves, did a stint in the Army, and came home to the Keys working for local smugglers. Rockstar's official description is simple: he wants an easy life, but easy keeps slipping away. Lucia, meanwhile, learned to fight from her father and is fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary, ready to take the honest path — as far as that can ever go in a Rockstar story.
Around the duo sits the richest supporting cast Rockstar has ever shown off at reveal. Cal Hampton is Jason's conspiracy-theorizing friend who monitors storms and security feeds from a couch. Boobie Ike runs a strip club and a recording studio and is one of the few local business empires in Vice City owned by an actual local. Dre'Quan Priest came up hustling and now books Only Raw Records acts, always with one eye on the legitimate exit.
On the heavier side of the law, Raul Bautista is a seasoned bank robber whose crew takes risks others won't, and Brian Heder is an aging drug runner from the heyday of smuggling who still thinks the grass is greener on the wrong side of the law. Both are exactly the kind of characters whose jobs Jason and Lucia will end up doing for them.
What makes this cast notable is how openly Rockstar marketed it: instead of silhouettes and rumors, every major character got an official bio and screen time in Trailer 2. Expect each of them to anchor a thread of the story across Vice City, the Keys, the Grassrivers swamp, and beyond.
