Grand Theft Auto VI now has a firm date: November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games announced the date after moving the launch from its earlier fall 2025 window, then again from May 2026, saying the extra time is needed to finish the game at the level of polish fans expect. After more than a decade of waiting since GTA V, the countdown is finally measured in weeks, not years.
GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S first. There is no PC version announced for launch day, which follows the series' usual pattern — GTA V arrived on consoles in 2013 and did not reach PC until 2015. Expect a PC release roughly 12 to 24 months after the console debut, though Rockstar has not confirmed anything yet.
The delay history is worth knowing if you are setting expectations with friends. The game was officially revealed in December 2023 with Trailer 1, dated 2025. In May 2025, Rockstar moved it to May 26, 2026. In November 2025, it moved again to November 19, 2026 — the current date. Rockstar has since held the date steady, and marketing has picked up, which is usually a sign the schedule is locked.
Preorders have not been opened yet at the time of writing. Based on past Rockstar launches, expect preorders to open a few months before release, alongside the announcement of the game's editions. We will update this page the moment preorders go live.
If you are planning time off for the launch, November 19, 2026 is a Thursday. Rockstar releases typically unlock at midnight local time on console, so a Thursday launch means a long weekend of Vice City ahead for most of the world.
