Will my GTA Online character transfer to GTA 6?
I have spent years on this character. Is there any chance of bringing anything over?

No transfer has been announced and I would not count on it. Rockstar kept GTA Online progress locked to that game across every console generation, and the new economy would break if a decade of grinding carried over.

GTA Online is also expected to keep running after GTA 6 launches, so your character is not going anywhere.
