Setting and characters
Grand Theft Auto V (2013) takes place in Los Santos and Blaine County, with three playable protagonists. Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to take place in Vice City and the state of Leonida, with two confirmed protagonists, Jason and Lucia.
Lucia is confirmed as the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto game.
Platforms and release
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a version for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2 or cloud streaming services.
Grand Theft Auto V released in 2013 and was later brought to newer consoles and to PC. Whether Grand Theft Auto VI follows any similar path is not yet announced by Rockstar.
What cannot be compared yet
Map size, mission count, engine details, performance modes, online features and pricing are all unannounced for Grand Theft Auto VI, so there is no honest way to compare them against Grand Theft Auto V today.
